Breaking the cycle of homelessness is one of the most life-changing aspects of what we can do. Positive Steps has been assisting individuals to secure & sustain tenancies for over twenty years, working in partnership with local councils. People can become homeless for a variety of reasons – from rent arrears to antisocial behaviour – our goal is to support & educate while respecting individual needs.
Our Repeat Homeless Prevention Service – This service is designed so that our project workers "stick" with the target service users for upto a year, supporting them through the initial difficult 3-6 months period, maintaining visits with them regardless how many attempts, encouraging and aiding participation with the appropriate agencies in order for the service user to achieve a stable successful tenancy. We encourage and aid our service users to take control of their situation and be confident to do so.
Our Support Project – We can provide support to individuals who may already have their own tenancy from a housing provider such as councils, registered social landlords or even private letting agencies, but who perhaps require a little additional support to maintain the tenancy.
Our Accommodation Project – In addition to our Support Project we can help individuals who do not have accommodation. We have access to a number of tenancies from housing providers which we sub-let, to individuals with support needs.
We understand that a lack of furniture or unfurbished accommodation can have a detrimental effect early in tenancies, so we introduced a unique housing support system that provides tenants with a fully furnished package, providing all the essentials for comfortable living.
Our whole service is designed to promote independence so that service users are empowered & have the information required to make informed choices, enabling them to build the life that they really want & deserve.
